A wide variety of commercially available and/or custom manufactured products can improve or support physical function and can promote recreation and participation.
Physiotherapists are trained to assess, prescribe, and train clients in the use of appropriate therapeutic devices such as braces, and walkers. Pediatric physiotherapists can also assess for and give suggestions about other devices such as bikes, tricycles, toys, and sports equipment.
Most Physiotherapists are certified to assess and prescribe orthotic and mobility products under the Assistive Devices Program.
Many products including walkers, bicycles, splints, standing frames, and toys are available for loan or rental. See your physiotherapist about product availability and loan agreements.
